we ride hard

It is days like yesterday when I revel in being in a sorority. Bella and I spent nearly four hours yesterday painting a banner adorned with jockeys and making cards for sick children for Sig Chi Derby Days. Sounds pretty wholesome doesn’t it? Some of the cards did leave a little to the  imagination. I am not quite sure how “keep it up” will inspire an ill child but it is the thought that counts right? For the UK dudes, Derby Days is  basically a week where each sorority competes against each other in a variety of challenges including banner making obviously, a Miss Derby Days pageant thing, money collections etc.  On Friday there is the grand finale – a dance and as I write this I can feel the floor vibrating as the dance practice gets underway. Let us just say that Thetas do not like to lose.  I do feel like I have been plummeted, once again, into a strange teen movie but sometimes it would be nice for people at home to get this into stuff cos despite being vom-inducingly wholesome – add some sweet tea vodka to the mix and it is pretty fun too! Obviously I cannot reveal the banner but it was pretty good (I will after) or anything to do with the dance incase there are spies from other sororities like Emily reading – told you it was serious business.

Another good thing about this week. IT’S HOT. Hotter than California! SUMMER IS HERE.

This means it is the time for spending too long on the terrace “working” and wearing shorts and playing on Lake Matoaka and country music and Day Drinking (weekend plans) so everything is good in the ‘Burg right now.  And this weekend will no doubt be a hilarious mess: we have another date party. Stay tuned kiddos
